I know. Telling someone, “Think less of yourself,” is contrary to the popular ideas of putting oneself first and believing in yourself. However, these ideas are not opposites. They complement each other.
To be a good leader and a positive influence in people’s lives, we need to think less of ourselves than we usually do. Doing so frees us to be better people and make a more significant impact in people’s lives.
…the less you think of yourself, the more will people think of you; and the more you think of yourself, the less will people think of you.
Charles Spurgeon
Think about it. If you are a humble leader, people will think more of you. They will follow you and believe in you. If you are arrogant, then people will drift away from you. Over time they will stop following you.
I think the best benefit of humility is this: the humble person is at peace within himself. I can’t think of a better state of being than that. So, think less of yourself today!
