In the business world email can rule your day. Study after study has proven that people spend an inordinate amount of time reading and responding to email. It is my belief that many people spend a tremendous amount of time bouncing around in email trying to figure out what to do, who to respond to, and what task to complete. Email is full of little dictators demanding our attention and their myriad demands confuse and distract us ultimately leaving us unproductive and discouraged for being so.
Some time back I heard about the 5 sentence email challenge. I think I read about it in a book. Frankly, I’m not sure. Nevertheless, I have been making attempts to implement the principle in my email practices with a modicum of success. Today I ran across an article by Mike Davidson where the challenge and more importantly the justification for the challenge is explained. I recommend it to you.
If you take the challenge, leave a comment here, and let me know how it goes.
