Rest is a critical part of life. We all need it, and we need a sufficient amount of it. But idleness is an evil that destroys. Don’t be idle today!
If you have aspirations, and you should, then a lazy attitude will get in the way of those aspirations.
If you have a problem and need to solve it, slothfulness will keep you from finding relief.
It is sad how often we express our dreams and then choose the sofa over doing something about chasing them. We rob ourselves of the joy of pursuing and realizing those dreams when we elect to be idle instead of industrious. We also reinforce a growing sense in our hearts that dreams are for other people; we are just average and destined for a boring life.
Often, the only thing standing between fulfillment and dissatisfaction in life is laziness. So, don’t be idle.
There is another cost/benefit calculation here. The lazy have bad reputations. The diligent and industrious have good reputations. Others respect them. That’s not why you ought to be diligent, but it is a strong benefit.
