One of the most crippling things for any business is leaders who fail to take ownership of their work. Their failure bogs the company down in indecision and wasted time in meetings. The purpose of too many meetings is to help managers get consensus or permission to do things that they should have already decided to do on their own. So, leader (I’m talking to myself), take ownership of your work.
Let’s break it down. When you fail to take ownership of your work, what happens?
Indecision – Simply put, things don’t get done. As a result people flounder and the organization struggles to advance and grow.
Wasted Time – When things do get down, it takes too long – lost opportunity. Along the way you waste other people’s time, which results in their lost opportunity to advance and grow the business.
I’m trying to do better. Will you?
